Ezekiel 2:6

"And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people."  Ezekiel 2:6


"...do not be afraid of them or their words."  Who's them and what words?

• Them are the people who try to get in your way.
• The words are what those people might say to you to make you feel bad about yourself.

This verse continues: "Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you..."  Literally, there aren't thorns all around us.  

• Basically, God's saying: "Don't be afraid even though you live in a place with much trouble."  

Then the verse continues to say: "...you live among scorpions."  Scorpions? Where? 

• People who are mean, who try to stand in your way, those are the people referred to as scorpions in this passage.

Finally, it finishes with this: "Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people."

• Again, they refers to the people who stand in your way, and God wants you to not be affected by their words, for they mean NOTHING.
• Do not be "terrified" by them, because they are not "terrifying" What I mean is, don't try to base yourself on things other people say about you, but by how you base yourself.
• Do not be afraid of what others will think of you!  That is an important lesson that is hard to learn!  We always seem to critique ourselves by how others seem; comparing ourselves to others. Our purpose was not to compare ourselves to those around us, but to Jesus.  We look up to Him and try to live a life like His, doing, and saying things He would.

1 John 4:16

"So we know that God loves us. We depend on it. God is love. Anyone who leads a life of love shows that he is joined to God. And God is joined to him."  1 John 4:16

It goes along with the theme of "love" in today's post. 

It says in this verse that, "Anyone who leads a life love shows that he is joined to God."  

We must lead lives that reflect the life of Jesus.  We must love everyone, our friends, our family, our enemies.  Jesus loved the people that tortured Him to death on a cross!  Sometimes it seems like there's just some people who are impossible to love!  Ever have that feeling?  But, if Jesus can humble Himself to death on a cross for OUR sins, then can we not then love our enemies, like Jesus loved His?

Colossians 3:17

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."  Colossians 3:17


Kids and teens, we all have those times when we don't want to listen to our parents, we don't want to do chores... But consider the following:


"What if God asked you to wash the dishes?  Would you refuse then?"


I think not...


We have to do everything for God.  If your mom asks you to do dishes, do it for God.  One of the ten commandments says: "Honour your mother and father and you will live long."

We must glorify God through our behaviours and actions.  Our lives must reflect that of Jesus Christ.  We are the chosen messengers of the world, to spread His Word.

Don't be afraid that you can't make a difference, whether you're young or old, poor or rich, you can make a difference.

"Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved."

Ecclesiastes 3:11 - In His Time...

"He has made everything beautiful in its time." Ecclesiastes 3:11

Life can be so frustrating. We have great ideas and make our plans to carry them out expecting to see instant success. But sometimes, in spite of our efforts and hard work we still fall flat on our faces. Then we look to God and ask "Why?"

It is helpful to me to remember that children don't always understand why parents have to make rules they don't like. Children want to keep playing through their nap times, they will ask for more candy when they've already had too much... The parents say "no" in the child's best interest but the children may not understand. And sometimes the "no" is not really no, but only wait until a better time.

So it is with some of our prayers. We may not understand, but we can be assured that the answers we get are the best God has for us. Sometimes the plans that we think are so fantastic may be a bit pre-mature. Perhaps the waiting will produce much better results. It is likely that we need to spend more time in prayer before we make our plans. We never know but what God has something much better in mind that what we planned.

A cactus isn't necessarily beautiful, but when it is the right time it has beautiful blooms. We may have to settle for being the plain cactus until the magic moment when God blooms us.

Joshua 1:9

"Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged for the Lord you God will be with you wherever you go."  Joshua 1:9

It says that the Lord will be with us wherever we go... isn't that amazing?  We sometimes think that we're all alone, but really, we're not.  God will always be there, by our side, to guide us through our lives.

Joshua says: "... Do not be terrified..."  He means don't worry, trust in the Lord, because He's in control.

I know it's hard to not worry, but assure yourselves with this: "...God will be with you wherever you go."

Matthew 6:34

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own."    Matthew 6:34

This is a verse that has come in handy over the past few days... It reminds us that we should,t worry about what's ahead, all that is taken care of by our Creator, Lord God.  

God has planned every one of our lives, and He knows what's ahead.  Why should we worry when everything is in His hands?  Sometimes that seems hard to stick to... we often don't realize that God has taken care of it, and He'll always be there to help us through the tough times that will come.  

So, if we know that, why do we still worry?  It's sometimes hard to imagine NOT worrying about a situation so worry-some.  But, we gotta let go of it all and just let the Big Man deal with it!  As Matthew writes: "...tomorrow will worry about itself."  

I hope this gave you all an example of what sort of blog this is, and how this'll work out.
